City of Klagenfurt
The Magistrat der Landeshauptstadt Klagenfurt, the capital of Carinthia, Austria, is committed to sustainable urban development and climate neutrality. As the only Austrian city selected for the EU’s 100 Climate-neutral and Smart Cities 2030 mission, Klagenfurt aims to achieve climate neutrality by 2030. The city´s Smart City Climate Strategy includes 236 measures in nine areas such as mobility, energy, and urban planning.
Major initiatives include a digital twin for advanced urban planning and the expansion of mobility solutions, such as improved cycling infrastructure and the promotion of public transport. Nearly half of the city´s buildings are connected toa district heating system powered by renewable energy.
Role in epowermove
As a pilot city in the project, the municipality of Klagenfurt will play a role in:

- Communication and organization between stakeholders in the city of Klagenfurt
- Researching future business models to operate bi-directional charging in public areas
