Electricity Authority of Cyprus
Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) established in 1952 as a semi-governmental organization is responsible for power generation, transmission, distribution, and supply across the island of Cyprus.
As a distribution system operator (DSO), EAC ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the grid, facilitating electricity supply to homes, businesses, and industries. It plays a critical role in integrating renewable energy sources, modernizing infrastructure with smart grid technologies, and enhancing grid resilience.
Role in epowermove
The Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) will contribute to the development of active management solutions in WP3 to alleviate distribution grid congestion caused by the high penetration of electric vehicle charging stations. In WP4, EAC will support pilot demonstration activities in Nicosia and provide distribution grid data for replicability studies and impact analysis on larger-scale distribution networks. Additionally, EAC will support the rollout acceleration by offering recommendations and guidelines.
