KIOS UCY
The KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence operates within the University of Cyprus (UCY) and currently is a leading research and innovation center in Cyprus and the region on Information and Communication Technologies. KIOS provides an inspiring environment for conducting excellent, cutting-edge research at a global scale, producing new knowledge and advanced technological tools to improve the operation, efficiency, reliability, safety, and security of critical infrastructure systems, such as power and energy systems, transportation systems, water networks, healthcare systems and emergency response systems bringing major socio-economic and environmental benefits at the local and global level.
Role in epowermove
The University of Cyprus (UCY) leads Work Package 3 (WP3), which focuses on developing a multi-level synergetic framework for intelligent co-management of the distribution grid and bi-directional electric vehicle (EV) charging. This framework aims to relieve grid congestion, minimize electricity charging costs, and maximize the utilization of renewable energy.
Additionally, UCY is leading the pilot demonstration in Nicosia, where 16 new EV chargers will be installed on the UCY campus. These chargers will be managed to meet user needs while adhering to the constraints of the local distribution grid.
